
Bhubaneswar: The ace-weightlifter from Arunachal Pradesh, Boni Mangkhiya has set a new national record in weightlifting by lifting a total of 171 kg. In the 55 kg Youth (W) category, she lifted 73 kg in snatch and 98 kg in clean and jerk.
She won two gold medals at the ongoing National Youth Weightlifting Championship in Bhubaneswar. She won the first gold medal in 49 Kg Senior Category, while another gold in the 55 Kg Youth (W) category .
In Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championship held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 2020, Mangkhiya had a bronze medal. In the same year, she won a silver medal at the third Khelo India Youth Games held in Guwahati, Assam.
