Water Supply Suspension in Bhubaneswar for 24 Hours: WATCO Issues Alert

Bhubaneswar: The Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) has announced a temporary suspension of water supply to several localities in Bhubaneswar and its outskirts. The suspension will begin at 2 pm on October 18 and last until 2 pm on October 19, affecting water availability for 24 hours.

According to WATCO, the temporary halt in supply is necessary to carry out repair work on the main water supply line at the Mundali Barrage. The suspension will impact various areas across the city, including residential and commercial hubs.

WATCO has listed several areas that will experience water supply disruption, including:

  • Patrapada
  • Bharatpur
  • Shampur
  • Ghatikia
  • Khandagiri
  • Kolathia
  • Aiginia
  • Baramunda
  • Jagannath Vihar
  • CRPF Square area
  • Ekamra Villa
  • Baramunda Bus Stand area
  • Tapoban
  • AIIMS area

Other affected localities include Jadupur, Dumuduma, Housing Board Colony, Jagamara, Jagamohan Nagar, Dharma Vihar, Gandamunda, Bhaktamadhu Nagar, Anant Vihar, Lingaraj Vihar, Kargil Slum, Kapilaprasad, Sundarpada, Krishna Garden, Mallick Complex, Siddhi Vihar, Soubhagya Nagar, Satabdi Nagar, Aerodrome area, Bhimpur, Palaspalli, Forest Park, Siripur, Ganganagar, IRC Village, Nayapalli, Kabari Slum, Gadasahi Slum, Nilakantha Nagar, Balitota Sahi, Anand Vihar, Sitapur Slum, Shashtri Nagar, Niladri Vihar, Salia Sahi, and Maitree Vihar.

Advisory for Residents

WATCO has urged residents to store adequate water in advance to meet their needs during the 24-hour outage. The corporation is coordinating efforts to minimize inconvenience, and the repairs are expected to be completed by Saturday afternoon, allowing for a full resumption of water supply thereafter.

Residents are advised to be prepared for potential delays in water restoration due to the scale of the repair work.
