Waste Management, Convention Centre Among Focus Areas During ACS Visit to Paradip

Bhubaneswar: Strengthening urban infrastructure, improving public services, and ensuring timely execution of development projects were at the centre of a high-level review conducted by Additional Chief Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development Department, Usha Padhi, during her field visit to Paradip Municipality on Thursday.

During the visit, Padhi undertook an on-ground assessment of several ongoing and proposed urban development initiatives aimed at enhancing civic amenities and improving the quality of life for residents.

One of the key stops during the inspection was the municipal Waste Management Centre, where she reviewed solid waste collection, processing systems, and disposal mechanisms. Stressing the importance of environmentally responsible urban management, she advised officials to adopt advanced technologies and strengthen sanitation practices to move towards a cleaner and more sustainable Paradip.

Padhi also visited the proposed site for the upcoming Convention Centre and reviewed project preparedness with officials. Discussions focused on infrastructure planning, design considerations, and implementation timelines. She directed authorities to ensure timely completion while maintaining quality standards.

In an interaction that highlighted service delivery at the grassroots level, the Additional Chief Secretary visited the Aahar Centre and shared a meal with citizens. She assessed food quality, hygiene standards, and operational efficiency at the facility. Appreciating the initiative’s role in providing affordable meals, she instructed officials to maintain consistency in cleanliness, nutrition, and public service standards.

Later, she chaired a review meeting with municipal and departmental officials to assess the status of ongoing infrastructure projects and civic initiatives in the town. She emphasized transparent governance, efficient execution, and citizen-focused service delivery, while directing departments to accelerate project implementation and adhere to completion schedules.
