Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar Emphasizes Public Sector’s Role in Nation Building at SCOPE Awards Ceremony

New Delhi: The prestigious SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) awards ceremony held in New Delhi witnessed Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar expressing his unwavering support for the public sector, emphasizing its pivotal role in the Indian economy. The event, attended by dignitaries including Shri Sandeep Kumar Gupta, Chairman of SCOPE, and Shri Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, Vice-Chairman of SCOPE, showcased the significant contributions of the public sector to societal development.

In his address, Vice-President Dhankhar highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s perspective on the public sector, underlining that it symbolizes both profit and societal welfare. Contrary to the misconception associating the public sector with liability, the Vice-President emphasized its substantial contribution to societal upliftment. He applauded the rich human resource of the public sector, which played a crucial role in the large-scale opening of bank accounts for the general public, facilitating the seamless transfer of direct benefits to farmers and other economically vulnerable segments.

Expressing confidence in the potential and capability of the public sector, Shri Dhankhar urged its entities to leverage emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He underscored the role of research and development in defining a nation’s strength and security, calling upon the public sector to invest in these areas and provide support to institutions.

The Vice-President commended recent governance improvements, noting that transparency and accountability now characterize the functioning of the public sector. He emphasized that patronage has no place in the public sector, highlighting its objective and performance-driven approach.

Addressing the issue of gender empowerment, Vice-President Dhankhar lauded the historical constitutional amendment providing one-third reservation to women in parliament and state legislatures. He noted the societal significance of this provision, extending its benefits horizontally and vertically to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe women.

Expressing concern over the exploitation of ignorance for political gains, the Vice-President condemned the unethical use of misinformation. He urged everyone present to embrace economic nationalism, echoing the Prime Minister’s call for “Vocal for Local” as a means to foster a sense of national pride and self-reliance.

As the SCOPE awards ceremony celebrated the achievements of the public sector, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s address resonated with a call for continued commitment to the nation’s progress and development.
