Vice Admiral AN Pramod Assumes Charge as Director General Naval Operations

New Delhi: Vice Admiral AN Pramod assumed the pivotal role of Director General Naval Operations (DGNO) on January 15, 2024. A distinguished alumnus of the 38th Integrated Cadet Course at the Naval Academy, Goa, Vice Admiral Pramod has been commissioned into the Indian Navy since July 1, 1990.

Vice Admiral Pramod holds expertise as a CAT ‘A’ Sea King Air Operations Officer and a Communication & Electronics Warfare Specialist. His professional journey includes completing the Staff Course at DSSC Wellington (Nilgiris) and the Naval Higher Command Course at NWC, Goa.

With an illustrious career, Vice Admiral Pramod has served in critical afloat appointments, including Fleet Operations Officer, Western Fleet, and Command of IN ships Abhay, Shardul, and Satpura. He also commanded the Naval Air Station, Utkrosh, at Port Blair and held significant staff appointments, such as Joint Director, Naval Air Staff, and Joint Director, Director, and Principal Director Aircraft Acquisition.

Additionally, Vice Admiral Pramod has been a member of the Indian Strategic & Operational Council (INSOC) from 2016-19 and the Tactical Audit Group (TAG) from 2006-09. His leadership extends to appointments as Deputy Commandant, INA, ACNS (Air) at Naval Headquarters, and Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area.

Vice Admiral Pramod’s wealth of experience and strategic acumen positions him as a key leader in the Indian Navy. As he takes on the role of DGNO, his focus on operational excellence and naval preparedness is anticipated to further strengthen the Indian Navy’s capabilities.

The Flag Officer is married to Mrs. Ambili Pramod, and they have two children, Chitranjali and Siddhanta.
