Veteran Actor Mithun Chakraborty diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident

Kolkata: Renowned actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty, a recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award for 2024, has been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata after being diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. The hospital has issued an official statement, providing an update on the actor’s health.

Mithun Chakraborty, fondly known as Mithun Da, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am on Saturday. The admission was prompted by complaints of weakness in his right upper and lower limbs. The hospital’s medical team promptly conducted necessary laboratory and radiology investigations, including an MRI of the brain, leading to the diagnosis of an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident.

The official statement from the hospital mentions, “Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented, and has consumed a soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors, including a neuro-physician, cardiologist, and a gastroenterologist.” The actor remains under the observation of the medical team, receiving the required treatment.

Mithun Chakraborty, 73, is celebrated for his versatile acting career, marked by iconic films such as “Disco Dancer,” “Agneepath,” “Ghar Ek Mandir,” “Jallad,” and “Pyaar Jhukta Nahin.” Having started his journey with the National Award-winning film “Mrigayaa,” directed by Mrinal Sen, the actor has left an indelible mark on the Indian film industry.

The news of his hospitalization comes shortly after the announcement of his selection as one of the Padma Bhushan Awardees for 2024. The actor’s fans and well-wishers are expressing their concerns and sending prayers for his speedy recovery. The medical team continues to monitor his condition closely, providing the necessary care during his stay at the hospital
