
Bhubaneswar: Veteran actor Sadhu Meher, a luminary figure in both the Odia and Hindi film industries, passed away today in Mumbai at the age of 84.
Meher, who had received the prestigious Padma Shri award in 2017, had left an indelible mark on the cinematic landscape with his remarkable performances. His notable contributions include stellar roles in acclaimed movies such as Ankur, Manthan, Mrigaya, and Bhuvan Shome. The late actor was honored with the National Film Award for Best Actor for his outstanding portrayal in the film Ankur.
Additionally, Sadhu Meher showcased his talent in the critically-acclaimed Odia movie Bhukha, and he also took on the roles of director and producer in several cinematic endeavors.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep condolences over the demise of the versatile actor, acknowledging Sadhu Meher’s widespread acclaim for his brilliant acting skills.
