Vedanta Announces ₹1 Lakh Crore Investment in Odisha; Over 1 Lakh Jobs to Be Created

Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial and economic landscape, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan today and announced the company’s plans to invest around ₹1 lakh crore in the state in the coming days.

The massive investment is expected to generate over one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across Odisha, marking one of the largest private sector investment commitments in recent years. The State Government assured full support to Vedanta’s initiatives, including facilitation of land allocation, infrastructure, and other necessary approvals to ensure seamless implementation.

As part of its expansion plans, Vedanta will establish an ultra-modern Ferro-Alloys Plant in Keonjhar with an investment of ₹2,000 crore, aimed at strengthening Odisha’s position in the global metal value chain. The company will also set up two state-of-the-art Aluminium Parks — one adjacent to its existing Jharsuguda Aluminium Plant, and another at a site to be identified by the government.

These Aluminium Parks will focus on producing high-grade aluminium alloys for strategic sectors such as aerospace, electric vehicles, and defence, attracting significant downstream investments and boosting the MSME ecosystem in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of “Viksit Bharat”. He said,
“Through large-scale infrastructure development and industrial investments by companies like Vedanta, Odisha is poised to emerge as a global hub for industry and technology. These initiatives will not only accelerate economic growth but also create vast opportunities for our youth and set the foundation for Odisha to become a $500 billion economy by 2036.”

The Chief Minister described the upcoming investment as a “game-changer for the bright future of Odisha.”

Expressing gratitude to the State Government, Anil Agarwal said, “Vedanta remains deeply committed to Odisha’s growth story. The continuous support of the government has been instrumental in enabling us to contribute to the state’s industrial and socio-economic development.”
