Jeypore: In a major boost to southern Odisha’s connectivity and development, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday announced that a Vande Bharat Express train will soon run between Jeypore and Bhubaneswar. Once operational, it will be the eighth pair of Vande Bharat trains in the state, enhancing rail links between Koraput district and the state capital.
Addressing a gathering during the third phase of financial assistance disbursal under the ‘Subhadra’ scheme—Odisha’s flagship women’s empowerment programme—the Chief Minister also declared that the long-defunct Jeypore paper mill would be revived and a new college would be established in the town.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to balanced regional growth, Majhi laid the foundation for 436 projects worth ₹452 crore and inaugurated 126 projects worth ₹309.42 crore. These projects span infrastructure, education, health, and civic amenities, aiming to accelerate socio-economic development in the region.
