The projects, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, were thoroughly examined by the Union Minister ahead of the momentous event.

The focus of the review included the 310 meters long Drydock, constructed to international standards, and the groundbreaking International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF). The ISRF stands as India’s first fully developed pure ship repair ecosystem, a significant leap for the nation’s maritime capabilities. Additionally, Shri Sonowal assessed the progress of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) LPG import terminal, another vital component of the strategic projects.

In a statement during the review, Shri Sonowal emphasized India’s strides towards self-reliance under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He highlighted the concerted effort to boost Indian flagged vessels, reducing dependence on foreign vessels. The Union Minister unveiled plans for the ambitious Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP), a project poised to position India as a global leader in the production of environmentally friendly ships. The creation of a Ship Repair Cluster in Kochi was also revealed as part of the endeavor to establish a robust ecosystem for India’s shipping industry.

Expressing satisfaction with the progress of the projects, Shri Sonowal stated that CSL plays a pivotal role in India’s quest to become a global player in the maritime sector. Anticipating a doubling of CSL’s turnover to ₹7,000 crores within the next four years, he underscored the initiatives as catalysts for national progress, advancement, and job creation.

Highlighting the significance of these projects in realizing Prime Minister Modi’s vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat, Shri Sonowal emphasized their role as expressions of national pride, showcasing India’s prowess in engineering and project management. The projects, collectively valued at ₹4000 crores, embody the spirit of ‘Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas.’
