
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Inaugurates NCISM Office and Emphasizes Ayush's Global Leadership in Holistic Health
New Delhi: Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, inaugurated the new office building of the National Commission of Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) at Punjabi Bagh (West) today. The event marked a significant milestone in the advancement of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy), as the minister emphasized the sector’s potential to become a global leader in holistic health and wellness.
In his address, Minister Sonowal highlighted the transformative journey of Ayush since the establishment of the Ministry in 2014. He credited the visionary approach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Ayush’s global recognition, citing its power, efficacy, and inclusive nature. The minister expressed confidence in Ayush’s growth and its role in integrating traditional medicine systems into public health delivery.
Minister Sonowal commended the role of NCISM in advancing Ayush education through innovation and interactive modules. He stressed the importance of ensuring that Ayush education, health delivery, products, and services become the best in the world, given the global acceptance of Indian Traditional Medicine Systems.
During the inauguration, the Union Minister also opened the new “Padam Shree and Padam Bhusan Vaidya Devendra Triguna Sadan” building of Akhil Bhartiya Ayurveda Mahasamelan. Additionally, he released the book titled ‘Ayurveda Kritattva Parichya Kosh,’ authored by RAV Guru, Vaidya Tarachand Sharma.
The inaugural session included a video message from the Union Minister of State for Ayush and Women and Child Development, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, who lauded the 10-year achievements of the Ministry of Ayush. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, highlighted the commendable work of both NCISM and the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) in aligning Ayush education with the New Education Policy 2020. NCISM Chairman Vaidya Jayant Deo Pujari emphasized the pioneering work of the Commission.
Dignitaries from various organizations, including Vaidya Devendra Triguna, Chairman, Akhil Bhartiya Ayurveda Mahasammelan, Dr. (Prof.) Tanuja Nesari, Director AIIA, Dr. Meena Kumari, Director, NIS, and Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor NIA Jaipur, along with NCISM office bearers, were present at the event. The collective efforts showcased a shared commitment to advancing Ayush and its global prominence in holistic healthcare.
