Union Minister S.P. Singh Baghel Showcases Innovations at World Food India 2024

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, visited the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying’s pavilion at World Food India 2024 held at Bharat Mandapam. His visit highlighted the department’s commitment to technological advancements in the livestock and dairy sectors.

During his tour, the Minister expressed appreciation for the innovative technology interventions presented by various startups at the exhibition. He officially launched new products developed by some of these startups, further underscoring the potential of entrepreneurship in the sector.

The inaugural day of World Food India 2024 featured a CEO Roundtable co-chaired by Union Ministers Piyush Goyal of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Chirag Paswan of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. This high-profile gathering attracted over 100 CXOs from leading Indian and global companies in food processing and related sectors, fostering collaboration and dialogue.

On September 19, 2024, the pavilion was inaugurated by Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The department’s participation in World Food India, running from September 19 to 22, showcased major schemes, new initiatives, and cutting-edge technologies in the livestock and dairy sectors.

The pavilion featured 25 stalls, including those from the National Dairy Development Board, various startups, and companies in the animal husbandry and dairy sectors. Visitors were particularly drawn to the “Selfie Point” and live demonstrations of innovative products.

On September 20, the department hosted a knowledge session titled “Entrepreneurship and Youth Development in the Livestock Sector” in Conference Room 15 of Bharat Mandapam. Moderated by Varsha Joshi, Additional Secretary (DAHD), the session featured distinguished speakers such as Dr. Rajesh Sharma from NDDB, Nirmal Choudhary, founder of Milk Station, and Dr. Arindam Mukhopadhyay from the West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation.
