
New Delhi: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, chaired the second meeting of the reconstituted Board of Trade at Bharat Mandapam. In his opening remarks, Minister Goyal highlighted the significance of the meeting as an opportunity to discuss key issues, focusing on leveraging Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), encouraging startups and MSMEs to explore international markets, and boosting exports from the services sector.
Addressing the gathering, Goyal underscored the importance of internationalizing goods and services to enhance product quality and achieve economies of scale. He stressed the need to transform exports into a people’s movement, with active participation from the States, Centre, and the Industry to propel Indian exports to new heights.
The Minister called for a proactive role from States/UTs in contributing to higher exports and nation-building. He assured that all issues raised during the meeting would be addressed, and suggestions made by participants would be duly considered. Goyal highlighted the immense potential in service exports, particularly in the areas of Education, Tourism, and Audio-Visual services. The meeting aimed to strategize and collaborate on initiatives that will further accelerate India’s export growth.
