Union Minister Pashu Pati Kumar Paras Resigns Amidst Political Turmoil
New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events, Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras has tendered his resignation, accepted by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu upon the advice of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The resignation, effective immediately, comes under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution.
Paras, who served as the Minister of Food Processing Industries, made headlines with his decision to step down amidst political upheaval. His resignation follows the announcement of a seat-sharing agreement between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and his nephew, Chirag Paswan, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The move has left Paras, an MP from Bihar’s Hajipur constituency, isolated within the political landscape. His decision to protest the seat-sharing deal by relinquishing his ministerial position underscores the deepening rift within the political corridors.
In a subsequent development, the Prime Minister has directed Cabinet Minister Kiren Rijiju to assume the additional charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, alongside his current responsibilities.
As the dust settles on this political maneuvering, the ramifications of Paras’ resignation and the BJP’s realignment with Chirag Paswan loom large over the impending electoral landscape.
