New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced a substantial allocation of Rs. 2675.31 crore for the 4-Laning of the Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur Section of National Highway-748A in Karnataka. The project, undertaken in Bagalkot and Belgavi districts, will be executed using the Hybrid Annuity Mode, covering a total length of 92.40 km.
Shri Nitin Gadkari shared the news through a social media post, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure in Karnataka. The 4-Laning initiative is a crucial component of the Panaji-Hyderabad EC10 corridor, connecting key industrial hubs in the region.
The EC10 corridor plays a pivotal role in linking significant industrial centers, including Panaji, known for fishing, tourism, agriculture, and pharmaceutical industries; Belgavi, renowned for food grains, sugarcane, cotton, tobacco, oilseed, and milk products; Raichur, recognized for rice, cotton, groundnut, and pulses; and Hyderabad, distinguished for IT, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and as a hub for various startups situated in Goa, Karnataka, and Telangana states, respectively.
This infrastructure development project is expected to bring about transformative changes in the region, facilitating smoother connectivity, reducing travel time, and boosting economic activities. The utilization of the Hybrid Annuity Mode reflects the government’s innovative approach to financing large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring optimal resource utilization and timely project completion.
The significant investment of Rs. 2675.31 crore underscores the government’s dedication to creating a well-connected and modern transportation network, fostering regional development, and contributing to the overall socio-economic growth of Karnataka.
