Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Launches Six Key Digital Initiatives to Enhance Parliamentary Efficiency

New Delhi: In a significant move towards digital governance, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju inaugurated six new initiatives as part of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs’ 100 Days Achievements under the Vikshit Bharat Vision 2047. The event was held in the Main Committee Room of the Parliament House Annexe and attended by various dignitaries, including State Legislature officials and media representatives.

In his welcome address, Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA), outlined the new initiatives designed to further enhance the efficiency of parliamentary functions. The initiatives include the upgraded National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) 2.0, which promises a more user-friendly interface and improved integration with state legislatures, aiming to promote a fully paperless legislative environment.

The NeVA 2.0 platform was praised by several state dignitaries from Gujarat, Haryana, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Meghalaya for its ability to streamline assembly functions and enhance transparency. During the event, Kiren Rijiju emphasized the importance of NeVA in achieving national digital integration, underscoring its role as a foundation for the “One Nation, One Application” vision.

Additionally, Rijiju launched the Subordinate Legislation Management System (SLMS), a portal designed to improve decision-making by digitizing subordinate legislation processes. He also introduced the Consultative Committee Management System (CCMS), which will facilitate real-time information sharing between the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, administrative ministries, and Members of Parliament, ensuring a more efficient and paperless workflow.

The event also saw the launch of the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) Portal 2.0, now open to all citizens, and a specialized National Youth Parliament competition for Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs), aimed at engaging tribal students in parliamentary practices. Rijiju highlighted the significance of involving youth in the democratic process, stating that these initiatives will familiarize them with the workings of the Indian Parliament.

Speaking at the event, Rijiju said, “The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs may not provide direct social services to citizens, but its crucial role in the backbone of our democracy is well established. These digital initiatives will further strengthen our governance systems, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and integration at every level.”

Secretary Umang Narula also lauded the achievements of the Ministry, emphasizing how these digital systems will play a critical role in good governance. He particularly noted the importance of NeVA in creating a seamless legislative environment.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from the Additional Secretary, who acknowledged the dedication of MoPA staff and state legislatures in achieving the 100-day milestone.
