Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia Launches Official Website for Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav 2024

New Delhi: To celebrate the cultural and economic heritage of Northeast India, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), today inaugurated the official website for the much-anticipated Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav. The launch event, held at Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi, marks a pivotal moment in promoting the region’s potential on both national and global stages.

The Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav, scheduled from December 6th to 8th, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, aims to be a landmark celebration of the Northeast’s diverse cultures and economic opportunities. The festival draws inspiration from the eight Northeastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura—collectively known as “Ashtalakshmi,” symbolizing eight forms of prosperity. The newly launched website, www.ashtalakshmimahotsav.com, will be a comprehensive resource for event updates, schedules, and participation details, ensuring a smooth experience for attendees nationwide.

During the launch, Scindia highlighted the event’s role in bridging the cultural and economic divide between Northeast India and the rest of the country. “The Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav will not only celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Northeast but also act as a catalyst for economic growth, providing new opportunities for artisans, weavers, and entrepreneurs from the region,” he stated.

The festival promises a vibrant mix of fashion, culture, and commerce. Key features will include dedicated pavilions showcasing Northeast India’s renowned Muga and Eri Silk, live demonstrations of traditional crafts, and a special emphasis on the region’s Geographical Indication (GI) products. Attendees can look forward to a Fashion Show, Design Conclave, Buyer-Seller Meet, and an Investment Round Table, all designed to foster meaningful collaborations and drive long-term economic benefits.

On the X platform, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Delighted to launch the official website for the upcoming Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav. This Mahotsav aims to showcase Northeast’s vibrant textile industry, artisanal crafts, and unique products to the world.”
