Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi Inaugurates MSME Pavilion at 43rd India International Trade Fair

New Delhi: Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Jitan Ram Manjhi, inaugurated the “MSME Pavilion” at Hall No. 6 of the 43rd India International Trade Fair (IITF) in New Delhi today. Accompanied by Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (MSME), and other senior ministry officials, the Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and inclusive growth in the MSME sector.

The MSME Pavilion centers on the theme “Green MSMEs”, underscoring the ministry’s focus on encouraging clean and sustainable technologies in business operations. The pavilion also showcases the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, a flagship initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, aimed at providing comprehensive support to artisans and craftspeople engaged in 18 traditional trades.

This year, the pavilion features 200 exhibitors from 29 States and Union Territories, displaying a wide variety of products such as textiles, handlooms, handicrafts, leather footwear, bamboo crafts, gems and jewelry, ceramics, and mechanical items. The event offers a platform for Micro & Small Enterprises (MSEs), particularly women-led businesses, SC/ST entrepreneurs, and those from Aspirational districts, to promote their products to a vast audience.

In line with the ministry’s commitment to inclusivity, 71% of stalls have been allocated to women entrepreneurs, while 45% are reserved for SC/ST entrepreneurs free of cost. Additionally, 35% of stalls are assigned to businesses from Aspirational districts, with over 85% of participants showcasing at IITF for the first time.

During his visit, Manjhi interacted with several exhibitors, encouraging their participation and acknowledging their efforts. A highlight of the day was a ‘Nukkad Natak’ (street play) performed at the pavilion to raise awareness about the PM Vishwakarma Scheme.

The MSME Pavilion reflects the ministry’s dual emphasis on sustainable development and equitable opportunities, serving as a testament to the vibrant and evolving MSME ecosystem in India.
