Union Minister Inaugurates Synopsys’ Chip Design Centre in Noida

New Delhi: Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, inaugurated Synopsys’ Chip Design Centre at DLF Tech Park in Noida today. The event witnessed the presence of senior leadership, employees, partners, and delegates from Synopsys.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Chandrasekhar expressed excitement about India’s trajectory in the semiconductor space, stating that the coming decade would witness innovation-driven performances in devices, products, and systems. He emphasized the significant role of Synopsys and similar companies in reshaping the semiconductor ecosystem, driving innovation in performance, design, and software.

The Minister underscored the government’s focus on partnerships with global leaders like Synopsys, aligning with India’s aspirations and future trajectory. He outlined the dual focus on manufacturing and innovation in the semiconductor industry, highlighting the government’s commitment to building capabilities and leading in chips, devices, and product architecture.

In an interaction with Dr Aart de Geus, founder of Synopsys, Minister Chandrasekhar shared the government’s approach, emphasizing India’s natural aptitude for electronics and semiconductors. He affirmed the government’s commitment to both manufacturing and innovation, viewing such partnerships as crucial building blocks for India’s ambitions.

Dr Aart de Geus acknowledged Synopsys’ role in India’s technological advancement, emphasizing the parallel growth of the company and the nation. He highlighted the substantial investment and acquisition of startups that led to the establishment of the Noida center, positioning it as a hub for innovation.

Synopsys, a dominant force in EDA tools and Interface, Foundation, & Physical IPs, has played a pivotal role in generating $5.9 billion in revenue. The company’s Noida center, now hosting around 6,000 engineers, constitutes 27% of its global design workforce. Synopsys’ expanding presence in India reflects the growing ecosystem of fabless chip design and innovation.

The inauguration marked the beginning of an even more promising chapter in technology and growth, fostering a collaborative environment for advancements in the semiconductor industry.
