Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh Joins “Gaon Chalo Abhiyaan” to Reach the Last Mile

Kathua: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, reaffirmed the Modi government’s commitment to reaching the last mile by participating in the nationwide “Gaon Chalo Abhiyaan.”

Conducting public interactions in Block Barnoti of Panchayat Nagrota in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Jitendra Singh engaged with public representatives, local residents, and women to gather their views, receive feedback on government welfare programs, and understand their perspectives.

Speaking during the campaign, Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized that this initiative is part of the Modi government’s strategy to reach the last person in the last queue. He stated that the government’s commitment to serving the citizens of India, with a focus on the development of the poor, farmers, women, and youth, is essential for the overall progress of the nation. Dr Singh highlighted the government’s inclusive approach, serving all sections of society without discrimination based on caste, creed, or political affiliation.

Later, addressing students at Government Higher Secondary School in Budhi, Dr Jitendra Singh encouraged them to harness the potential of the internet and social media to enhance their learning and explore startup opportunities in the digital age. He urged the school administration to introduce Atal Tinkering labs to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination among students. Additionally, the Minister suggested that students consider careers in agri-startups, which are emerging as alternative and lucrative sources of livelihood in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted the changing mindset regarding sustainable living and the increasing number of new avenues, such as agri-startups, providing opportunities for youth. He cited the success of J&K’s Aroma Mission, where the cultivation of lavender in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district has gained national prominence. The Minister noted that perfumes made from lavender are fetching good prices, enabling youth associated with the mission to achieve significant returns. Dr Singh encouraged students to explore such innovative paths for personal and societal development.
