Union Minister Bhupender Yadav Highlights Youth’s Role in Building a Progressive and Sustainable India

Mumbai: Union Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, emphasized the pivotal role of youth in shaping India’s future during his address at the “Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat” event held at SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Mumbai. The Minister highlighted the government’s focus on quality education, skill development, job creation, and entrepreneurial ambitions as key drivers in preparing India’s youth, or “Amrit Generation,” for a transformative era.

In his keynote address, Yadav said, “The youth of India is dynamic and determined, and India’s path to becoming a global leader rests upon their shoulders. As we work towards environmental sustainability and climate resilience, Yuva Shakti must lead the charge in fostering a greener and more sustainable future.”

The Minister also touched on economic reforms crucial for achieving the vision of a developed India. He discussed the significance of the Jan Vishwas Bill, which includes 183 provisions designed to streamline regulations and reduce compliance requirements for businesses, creating a more conducive environment for growth. Additionally, Yadav mentioned the Gatishakti initiative, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and connectivity, especially for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), further empowering the nation’s economy.

Yadav highlighted the startup ecosystem, noting the government’s efforts to foster entrepreneurship and the necessity of a consistent policy framework. He called for a focus on the circular economy, urging sustainable practices in managing waste such as used oil, rubber, e-waste, and solid waste. He also announced the establishment of a Green Fund to increase green cover and support environmental projects.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2070, the Minister encouraged responsible consumption and the reduction of single-use plastics. He urged young people to take the lead in adopting sustainable practices, including tree plantations and clean energy drives. “It is time for the youth to champion change in sustainable development and take key steps toward a truly developed India,” he said.

During the event, Yadav participated in a tree plantation ceremony as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, symbolizing the commitment to environmental preservation. NMIMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Ramesh Bhat and SVKM President Amrish Patel also shared their efforts toward environmental sustainability, underscoring the institution’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of responsible leaders.

The event concluded with a video clip from the Prime Minister’s “Join My Bharat” campaign, encouraging active youth engagement in India’s developmental journey. The event also featured discussions with young women achievers, prominent YouTube influencers, and students on climate change and India’s sustainable future.
