Union Labour Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Presides Over Graduation Ceremony of ESIC Medical College, Faridabad

New Delhi: In a celebration of academic achievement and service to the nation, Union Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, presided over the second graduation ceremony of ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Faridabad, held today at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium in New Delhi. A total of 447 students graduated, including 100 MBBS students each from the 2016 to 2019 batches and 47 postgraduate students from the institution’s first PG batch.

Addressing the graduating students, Dr. Mandaviya emphasized the vital role of healthcare professionals in shaping the nation’s future. He described the ceremony as not just an academic milestone, but a commitment to serve society with compassion, integrity, and ethical conduct. He urged the young doctors to view their profession not just as a career but as a mission to heal, uplift, and empower.

“A healthy citizen is the foundation of a healthy nation,” Dr. Mandaviya said, reiterating that doctors are central to the success of the Fit India Movement. He called on the graduates to be champions of preventive care and wellness, promoting healthy living among the public and contributing to long-term national wellbeing.

Congratulating the graduates on their success, the Minister reminded them that medals and degrees are only the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning and service. “Even in moments where you don’t ‘win,’ learning itself becomes a form of victory,” he said. He also encouraged the new medical professionals to consider serving in rural and underserved areas, where their impact would be most profound.

Linking the graduates’ role to the broader national agenda, Dr. Mandaviya invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasized that building a developed India is a shared responsibility of all 140 crore citizens, and that doctors would play a pivotal role in achieving this vision. Every life saved and every illness treated, he noted, directly contributes to national progress.

Dr. Mandaviya concluded his address with a powerful message: “Desh kaise swasth rahe — How can my country stay healthy?” urging the graduates to let this question guide their choices, ethics, and professional commitments.

Students of the graduating MBBS batches demonstrated outstanding academic performance. From 2016 to 2019, the college produced top-ranking students across all professional levels—three in the first professional exams, seven in the second, six in the third, and seven in the final year. Remarkably, seven of these toppers are wards of insured persons (IPs), a testament to the institute’s mission of nurturing talent from all walks of life.

Postgraduate students also distinguished themselves with top ranks in key medical specialties. These included first positions in seven fields such as Dermatology, Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT), ENT, Pathology, and Radio-Diagnosis. Second and third positions were also secured in specialties including Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Microbiology, and Orthopedics.
