Raipur: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah presented the prestigious ‘President’s Colour’ to the Chhattisgarh Police today, marking the commencement of his visit to the state. The ceremony, held at a grand event in Raipur, was attended by several dignitaries, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.

In his address, Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the significance of the ‘President’s Colour’, an honour bestowed upon armed forces for exceptional service and dedication. He lauded the Chhattisgarh Police for earning this distinction within just 25 years of its establishment, reflecting the trust and confidence placed in them by the President. Shah praised the force as one of the finest in the country, known for its passion, courage, and unwavering dedication to public service. He emphasized that receiving the ‘President’s Colour’ during its silver jubilee year showcases the police’s relentless commitment to maintaining law and order, combating Naxalism, and promoting a safe and progressive society.

Shah further highlighted the transformative role of the Chhattisgarh Police in various sectors, including its successful campaign against Naxalism, advancements in public safety, and efforts towards a drug-free India. He credited the force for its invaluable contributions to building a secure and prosperous Chhattisgarh, while also extending support to national development goals.

Addressing the significance of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy, Shah noted that today marks his death anniversary. He stressed that Sardar Patel’s vision for a united India is being fulfilled through the efforts of the Modi government, including the abrogation of Article 370, ensuring Kashmir’s permanent integration with India.

Amit Shah expressed confidence in Chhattisgarh Police’s ability to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the central and state governments are committed to eradicating Naxalism from Chhattisgarh, citing the success of security forces in neutralizing 287 Naxalites, arresting 1,000, and facilitating the surrender of 837 Naxalites in the past year alone.

Moreover, Shah praised the Chhattisgarh Police’s success in tackling organized crime and narcotics, with over 1,100 narcotics cases registered from January to September 2024, resulting in significant drug seizures. The implementation of stringent policies under the PITNDPS Act was also commended.

The Home Minister concluded his speech by reinforcing the responsibility that comes with receiving the ‘President’s Colour’. He urged every officer and personnel to uphold the values of service, sacrifice, and dedication, emphasizing that this recognition signifies a deeper commitment to nation-building and safeguarding the well-being of Chhattisgarh’s citizens.
