Union Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Science and Research in Kalol, Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the ‘Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Science and Research’ at Kalol in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, today. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and various dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah praised the Swaminarayan sect, highlighting Lord Swaminarayan’s contributions to Gujarat as a Karmabhoomi. He acknowledged the establishment of nine temples and a rich tradition by the sect. Shri Shah commended the Swaminarayan sect for its role in liberating millions from addiction, fostering devotion in households, and teaching the art of leading a righteous life. He credited the sect for initiating Gurukuls across Gujarat since the 1960s, emphasizing that the credit for the educated youth of Gujarat goes to Gurukuls.

Shri Shah highlighted the Swaminarayan sect’s dedication to providing education to Dalit and OBC children in tribal villages, shaping them into responsible citizens and devotees. He expressed gratitude on behalf of society for their valuable contributions. Shri Shah underscored the significance of eradicating addiction, improving health, and imparting literacy, stating that educating an illiterate person is an unparalleled deed.

The Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation informed that 100 students have enrolled in the newly constructed medical college, with plans to introduce MD and MS postgraduate courses in the near future. He praised the Swaminarayan Gurukul for establishing a modern hospital equipped with all facilities. Shri Shah expressed joy in providing free services to everyone in the hospital since the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, emphasizing the supreme importance of serving ‘Daridra Narayan.’

The Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Science and Research is expected to play a crucial role in providing quality medical education and healthcare services to the people of Gujarat.

Note: ‘Daridra Narayan’ refers to the embodiment of God in the form of the impoverished and downtrodden.
