New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme’ (FTI-TTP) at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport today. The ceremony was attended by Union Home Secretary and several other dignitaries, marking a significant step towards enhancing travel convenience and efficiency for international travelers.
Speaking at the inauguration, Amit Shah emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the FTI-TTP is a visionary initiative designed to benefit Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. “This initiative will provide more facilities for Indian nationals and OCI passengers coming from other countries. The launch of this programme is a key agenda set for Viksit Bharat @2047 and reflects the Modi Government’s commitment to enhancing travel convenience and efficiency for all,” he said.
The FTI-TTP aims to provide faster, smoother, and safer immigration clearance for international travelers. It will be available free of cost to all passengers and will operate through e-gates or automated border gates, minimizing human intervention in the immigration process. The program will be implemented in two phases: the first phase will cover Indian citizens and OCI cardholders, and the second phase will extend to foreign travelers.
“The objective of this programme is to make international travel easy and secure by developing world-class immigration facilities through an accelerated immigration pathway for international travelers screened through automated gates,” Shri Amit Shah added.
The implementation of FTI-TTP will be managed through an online portal, with the Bureau of Immigration serving as the nodal agency. To enroll, applicants must register online with their details and required documents. After verification, a White List of ‘Trusted Travellers’ will be generated for implementation through e-gates. Biometrics of the ‘Trusted Traveller’ will be captured at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or during airport passage.
The registration for the TTP will be valid until the passport’s expiry or for five years, whichever comes first, and can be renewed thereafter. Upon reaching the e-gates, registered passengers will scan their boarding pass and passport, and biometric authentication will be conducted. Once authenticated, the e-gate will open automatically, granting immigration clearance.
FTI-TTP will be launched at 21 major airports across India. In the first phase, it will be introduced at seven major airports in addition to Delhi: Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.
