Union Home Minister Amit Shah Engages with Special Guests from Vibrant Villages on Republic Day Eve

New Delhi: In a significant Republic Day eve event, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah interacted with special guests from the Vibrant Villages initiative in New Delhi. The gathering included dignitaries such as Minister of Earth Sciences Shri Kiren Rijiju, Information and Broadcasting, and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, and Minister of State for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Nishith Pramanik.

Shri Amit Shah emphasized the importance of developing the first village of the country, particularly those situated in border areas. He highlighted Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to bridging the gap between India’s border villages and Delhi through the Vibrant Village program. The initiative aims to provide basic amenities to border villages, reduce migration, and promote overall development, connectivity, and preservation of local culture.

Key Points:

  1. Vibrant Village Program Coverage: The Vibrant Village Program targets 3,000 villages in 19 border areas, including Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh. The program is set to be completed in 10 years, covering 662 villages with an initial outlay of Rs 4800 crore.
  2. Objectives of the Program:
    • Overall development of the country’s first village in a phased manner.
    • Preventing migration from border villages.
    • Preserving local culture and improving all kinds of connectivity, basic facilities, and infrastructure.
  3. Investment: The government is allocating Rs 2500 crore for constructing roads in these areas to enhance connectivity.
  4. Development Achievements: Shri Amit Shah highlighted that the Narendra Modi government has spent more than double the amount on the development of these villages in the last 5 years compared to the amount spent in the 70 years of independence.
  5. Republic Day Celebration: Panchs, Sarpanchs, and accompanying individuals from Vibrant Villages were invited as “Special Guests” to witness the Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path. Shri Amit Shah emphasized that they are guests of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who has taken full care of their visit.
  6. Vision of Prime Minister Modi: The Vibrant Villages Program aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Leaving No Citizen Behind,” considering border villages as “the first village” of the country.
  7. Additional Activities: Special guests from Vibrant Villages visited the Prime Minister’s Museum, will participate in “Bharat Parv” on January 27, and have been invited to watch the “PM Rally” of NCC cadets on the same day.

The Vibrant Villages Program, under the leadership of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, focuses on holistic development, connectivity, and cultural preservation in select villages located in border blocks. The initiative aims to ensure the comprehensive development of these villages and contribute to the nation-building process.
