Union Home Minister Amit Shah Commends Newly-elected Board of National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories

New Delhi:  In a significant development, the recently elected board of directors of the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories met Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, in New Delhi today. The delegation, led by the Federation’s newly appointed president, Shri Harshvardhan Patil, engaged in discussions on the future of India’s sugar sector and the role of cooperative sugar factories in contributing to the nation’s economic growth.

Taking to the X platform, Shri Amit Shah shared a post stating, “Today, met and congratulated the delegation of the newly elected board of directors of the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories. The Ministry of Cooperation under the guidance of PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji is reaffirmed to ensure the prosperity of the cooperative sector.”

During the meeting, Shri Shah outlined the Ministry of Cooperation’s commitment to supporting and enhancing the cooperative sector’s prosperity. He provided clear directives for the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories to play a leading role in India’s sugar industry. Emphasizing the importance of diversification, Shri Shah encouraged the installation of multifeed distilleries to produce ethanol from both maize and sugarcane.

In line with the government’s vision, Shri Amit Shah advised the federation to operate as a corporate entity, highlighting the need for a proactive and business-oriented approach to enhance efficiency and competitiveness in the sugar sector.

The discussions during the meeting underscored the government’s dedication to promoting cooperative initiatives and fostering economic growth through the sugar industry. The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories, with its newly elected leadership, is poised to take on a pivotal role in shaping the future of the cooperative sector and contributing to the nation’s development.
