New Delhi: On the eve of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda led a gathering at Nirman Bhawan, bringing together officials and staff from the Health Ministry to pledge their commitment to strengthening India’s unity and integrity. This occasion marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose leadership and vision were instrumental in unifying India.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, and Union Health Secretary, Punya Salila Srivastava, joined the event, underscoring the Ministry’s dedication to fostering a cohesive society. Addressing the gathering, Nadda remarked, “Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles of unity and integrity that Sardar Patel championed. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our actions and policies reflect the spirit of inclusiveness and diversity that makes India unique.”
The ceremony included a reading of the Unity Pledge, with all participants vowing to work toward strengthening the bonds of unity across India’s diverse cultures, languages, and traditions. The Health Ministry reiterated its commitment to improving public health while upholding values of equality and unity in its initiatives, aligning with Patel’s enduring vision of a united India.
National Unity Day is observed annually on October 31 to honor Sardar Patel, celebrating his role as the “Iron Man of India” who laid the foundation of a unified nation.
