UGC Issues Notice Urging Universities to Expedite Faculty Recruitment

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a notice to universities, institutions deemed to be universities, and colleges across the country, emphasizing the urgent need to fill vacant faculty positions.

In the notice, the UGC has called for serious steps to ensure that these positions are filled at the earliest opportunity. This directive follows several letters previously sent by the UGC regarding the recruitment of faculty in higher education institutions.

“The shortage of faculty in Higher Education Institutions is a major concern and requires to be addressed on priority for improving the quality of Higher Education,” the UGC stated. The commission has urged all universities and institutions to adhere to UGC guidelines for faculty recruitment in both letter and spirit.

Universities and colleges have been reminded of their responsibility to ensure timely and effective implementation of recruitment processes, which is essential for maintaining and improving academic standards.
