Two Female Maoists Surrender in Boudh District, Cite Unethical Practices

Boudh: In a significant development, two female Maoists, identified as Manisha Thati and Champa Koram from Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, have voluntarily surrendered before the Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Jai Narayan Pankaj in Boudh district.

Both Manisha and Champa were associated with the Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) organization and had been actively involved in Maoist activities for the past five years.

Their decision to surrender was driven by disillusionment with the unethical practices prevalent within the Maoist organization. The duo cited instances of sexual harassment of female cadres, extortion activities, and the recruitment of young individuals into the militant group through deceptive promises and propaganda as the primary reasons for their discontent.

The surrendered Maoists also disclosed the Maoist organization’s involvement in the narcotics trade, shedding light on the multifaceted challenges faced by the group.

The surrender of Manisha Thati and Champa Koram is seen as a significant setback for the Maoist organization in the region and a positive step towards curbing the influence of such groups involved in illegal activities.
