TRIFED Partners with Meesho, IFCA & MGIRI to Boost Tribal Businesses Through B2B Approach

New Delhi: In a significant step towards strengthening tribal enterprises, the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) has entered into strategic partnerships with Meesho, the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA), and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI). The Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were signed on 18th February 2025 during the Aadi Mahotsav, TRIFED’s flagship tribal festival, currently being held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in the National Capital from 16 to 24 February 2025.

This collaboration marks a pivotal shift from a Business-to-Consumer (B2C) model to a Business-to-Business (B2B) approach, aimed at expanding the market reach for tribal communities and enhancing their socio-economic development.

Empowering Tribal Enterprises Through Strategic Partnerships

The key objectives of these partnerships include:

  • TRIFED-Meesho Collaboration: Meesho will facilitate the onboarding of tribal products onto its social commerce platform, along with providing training and capacity-building for tribal suppliers, enabling them to effectively compete in the digital marketplace.
  • TRIFED-IFCA Collaboration: The Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA) will create long-term collaborations between culinary professionals, hotel chains, and tribal businesses through their technology platform, ensuring increased visibility and demand for tribal food products.
  • TRIFED-MGIRI Collaboration: As TRIFED’s knowledge partner, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) will conduct training and capacity-building programs for artisans, helping them refine their skills and improve the quality of their products.

Formalization of the MoUs

The agreements were exchanged between TRIFED General Managers and the respective representatives:

  • Prachi Bhuchar, Head of Public Policy & Government Affairs, Meesho
  • Chef Manjit Gill, Representative of IFCA
  • Dr. Ashutosh A. Murkute, Director, MGIRI

Ashish Chatterjee, Managing Director, TRIFED, presided over the signing ceremony, emphasizing that these partnerships are instrumental in mainstreaming tribal businesses, making them self-sustaining, and bringing them closer to national and global markets.

The Aadi Mahotsav 2025, inaugurated by President of India Droupadi Murmu on February 16, in the presence of Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, MoS Durga Das Uikey, and MP Bansuri Swaraj, continues to serve as a key platform for promoting tribal art, culture, and entrepreneurship.

With these latest strategic ventures, TRIFED is furthering its mission of economic empowerment for tribal communities, ensuring that their crafts, skills, and businesses flourish in the evolving market landscape.
