Tragic Incident: Three Siblings Die from Snakebites in Odisha, Father in Critical Condition

Boudh: In a heart-wrenching tragedy, three minor siblings have died from snakebites, and their father is in critical condition following the incident that occurred in Chariyapali village, Tikarpada panchayat, Odisha.

The unfortunate event took place late Sunday night when two sisters, Sudhirekha Mallik (13) and Shubhrekha Mallik (12), returned home from their hostel to celebrate the traditional Nuakhai festival with their family. After the festivities, the family retired for the night in their bedroom. The two girls were sleeping with their younger sister, Surbhi Mallik (3), along with their brother and parents.

During the night, a poisonous snake bit all three sisters and their father, Sulendra Mallik. Instead of seeking immediate medical attention, the family initially sought the help of a local sorcerer, hoping for traditional remedies. Unfortunately, the sorcerer’s efforts were unsuccessful, leading the family to eventually seek medical assistance.

The family was rushed to the Boudh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where doctors pronounced the three sisters dead upon arrival. Their father, who was in a severe condition, was initially treated at the hospital but later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital as his condition worsened.
