Traffic Restrictions Announced for Smooth Flow During Rath Yatra 2025 in Puri

Bhubaneswar: In anticipation of the massive gathering of devotees during the upcoming Rath Yatra in Puri, the district police have issued a structured traffic and parking plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement and crowd control. The advisory, released on Tuesday, outlines dedicated routes and parking arrangements for vehicles arriving from various directions, aiming to ease congestion and maintain public safety throughout the festival period.

Key highlights of the traffic and parking arrangements are as follows:

  • From Brahmagiri Side (Four-Wheelers):

    • LMVs will be allowed up to Sterling Chhak via Mangalaghat.

    • Parking points:

      • Roadside near Sterling Chhak

      • Sterling Chhak (Right and Left Side)

      • SCS College Ground

  • From Bhubaneswar Side (Four-Wheelers):

    • Vehicles will be diverted to Talabania parking area via Malatipatapur ROB, Baidas Nagar, and Grid Station.

    • Parking locations:

      • OLA Guest House

      • Helipad

      • ITI College Ground

      • Indoor Stadium

      • Horticulture Field

      • Hygienic Fish Market

    • If Talabania fills up, vehicles will be diverted to Sterling via Batagaon and Mangalaghat.

  • From Konark Side (Four-Wheelers):

    • Vehicles will follow Balighai–Baidas Nagar–Grid Station route to reach Talabania.

    • Same parking areas as for Bhubaneswar-bound traffic will apply.

  • Two-Wheelers (All Directions):

    • From Brahmagiri and Bhubaneswar:

      • Allowed up to Old Jagannath Ballav Parking (OJBP) on a first-come-first-served basis.

      • Additional parking:

        • Matitota Helipad Ground

        • Matitota Playground

      • Return routes:

        • Brahmagiri side: via Mangalaghat

        • Bhubaneswar side: via Jatiababa Chhak – Kumbharapada PS – Atharanala – Batagaon

    • From Konark Side:

      • Allowed up to Blue Flag Beach and Hotel Neelachal Ashok via Baidas Nagar – Grid Station – Helipad – Pethakata Chhak – CT Road – Subash Bose Chhak.

      • Return via the same route.

  • Note:

    • No vehicles will be allowed on the ROB road from Baidas Nagar Chhak under any circumstances.

The Puri Police have urged devotees to follow the traffic guidelines and cooperate with on-ground personnel. Adequate signage and route markers will be placed throughout the city to ensure smooth movement and safety during the Rath Yatra celebrations.
