Traffic Advisory for Maha Shivratri Celebration at Shree Lingaraj Temple

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has issued a traffic advisory for the Maha Shivratri celebrations at Shree Lingaraj Temple, Bhubaneswar, scheduled for February 26. The advisory outlines the traffic management plan to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and accommodate the anticipated large influx of devotees.

The traffic regulations will come into effect from midnight of February 25, with special instructions for different routes leading to the historic 11th-century shrine.

Vehicle Diversions and Parking Arrangements

  • Vehicles coming from Rath Road and Punama Gate side: These vehicles will be diverted from Badheibanka Square towards BM High School Ground for parking. No heavy vehicles will be allowed on Ratha Road during this period.

  • Vehicles coming from Kedar Gouri Temple side and Sanitarium Chhak side: Devotees may use Koti Tirtha Lane via Kacherapindi Chhak and park their vehicles at vacant spaces at the rear side of Taranga Club. Koti Tirtha Lane will be converted to one-way traffic from the Sidhi Mandap Lane side.

  • Vehicles coming from Samanatrapur side: These vehicles will be permitted via Sri Ram Nagar, merging at Substation Square, from where they will be diverted towards the northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and the rear side of Taranga Club for parking.

  • Vehicles from Keuta Sahi side towards Lingaraj Temple: These vehicles will be diverted from Sriram Nagar to the BMC Market Complex/Ananta Basudev parking area and other designated parking locations via Substation Square.

  • Vehicles coming from Tara Sundari Road: Vehicles heading towards Lingaraj Temple will not be allowed beyond Badheibanka Chhak and will be diverted from Municipality Hospital to BM High School Ground for parking.

Special Instructions for Buses and Heavy Vehicles

  • Buses, heavy vehicles, and cars coming from the Mausima side or Kalpana side through Ramakrishna Math will be allowed up to Sanitorium Square. These vehicles will be parked at the newly launched bus stop at Sanitorium Square.

  • Government officials and invitees arriving via Rath Road will take a diversion at Badheibanka Square towards designated parking areas via Municipality Hospital Road.

Designated Parking Locations

The police have set up several designated parking areas for the convenience of devotees, ensuring a smooth flow of traffic and minimal congestion. These locations include- BM High School Ground, Rear side of Taranga Club, Ananta Basudev Temple Area, BMC Market Complex.

Devotees are advised to follow traffic diversions and parking arrangements to ensure a hassle-free experience during the Maha Shivratri celebrations. The Commissionerate Police has urged the public to cooperate with traffic personnel for a smooth and safe event.
