TPCODL Gears Up for Cyclone Dana with Safety Measures and Uninterrupted Power Supply Plan

Bhubaneswar: As Cyclone ‘Dana’ looms over Odisha, TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Odisha government, has activated its comprehensive preparedness plan to ensure public safety and maintain an uninterrupted power supply during the impending storm.

TPCODL has initiated its Business Continuity and Disaster Management Plan (BCDMP), which includes a robust disaster response framework designed to handle various emergency situations. The plan encompasses real-time weather monitoring, pre-disaster warnings, and a swift power restoration process if the cyclone causes any disruptions.

Round-the-Clock Emergency Assistance

TPCODL has positioned quick-response teams at multiple locations within its operational areas, ready to tackle any potential power issues efficiently. Consumers are urged to report emergencies through the company’s 24×7 toll-free helpline numbers: 1912 or 18003457122.

Consumer Safety Advisory

In preparation for the cyclone, TPCODL has issued a public advisory with safety measures to prevent accidents:

  • Avoid contact with electrical installations, wires, or plumbing during thunderstorms, as they may conduct electricity.
  • Seek shelter in sturdy structures, avoiding trees or temporary shelters during strong winds and heavy rain.
  • Do not handle electrical equipment with wet hands or while standing in water without proper insulation.
  • Keep children away from open storm drains and water bodies during and after heavy rainfall.

TPCODL’s CEO, Arvind Singh, assured the public, saying, “As Cyclone Dana approaches, we are fully prepared to ensure minimal disruption to the power supply. Our decentralized central room for real-time network monitoring is active, and we have arranged sufficient manpower and materials on-site. We are working closely with government agencies to safeguard both infrastructure and public safety. We urge everyone to follow safety guidelines and report any emergencies immediately.”

To expedite power restoration, TPCODL has stocked essential equipment like transformers, conductors, and poles. Special teams are also on standby to maintain continuous power supply to critical facilities such as hospitals and disaster response centers.

By leveraging its robust operational framework and maintaining close coordination with district administration and local authorities, TPCODL aims to minimize disruptions while ensuring the safety of both consumers and employees.
