
Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at decongesting Bhubaneswar Main Station and enhancing accessibility for commuters in North Bhubaneswar, Athgarh, and Cuttack regions, Indian Railways has announced a change in the terminal point for three major express trains. Effective May 12, 2025, the Konark Express (11020/11019), Visakha Express (17015/17016), and the Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Inter City Express (22819/22820) will originate and terminate at the newly developed Bhubaneswar New Station instead of Bhubaneswar Main Station.
All three trains will also provide a two-minute stoppage at Mancheswar Railway Station in both directions, and will continue to halt at Bhubaneswar Main Station for 20 minutes, allowing passengers from the central city area to board and alight as before.

The new arrangement is expected to ease congestion at Bhubaneswar Main Station and offer enhanced access for commuters from nearby suburban areas. By providing additional halts at Mancheswar, the Railways aims to serve a wider passenger base while maintaining the convenience of passengers in central Bhubaneswar.
