Three-Day State-Level e-Governance Workshop Begins in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A three-day State Level e-Governance workshop commenced today at the Dr. N. Sheshagiri Memorial Hall, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The event was inaugurated by Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chief Secretary of Odisha, and is focused on leveraging emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to accelerate government welfare schemes.

The inaugural session showcased the creativity and technical prowess of young scientists from NIC, who demonstrated AI-powered models and simulations across 14 topics. Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Ahuja highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in governance. “AI-based knowledge systems and emerging technologies are essential in enhancing the efficiency and impact of welfare schemes across the state,” he stated.

During an interaction with the young scientists participating in the AI Exhibition, Ahuja offered suggestions to enhance AI innovations and improve their practical applications in governance.

R. S. Gopalan, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, sharing insights on the intersection of artificial intelligence and governance. He emphasized the importance of policy intelligence in ensuring the safety and ethical application of generative AI technologies.

The workshop drew enthusiastic participation from NIC scientists, District Informatics Officers, and staff, who engaged in in-depth discussions on AI applications for upcoming state projects.

A significant highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Project Profile for the Year 2025 and a booklet titled Gov.AI Exhibition by the distinguished guests. These publications underscore the state’s commitment to fostering AI-driven innovations in e-Governance.

The program was presided over by Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer, NIC, Odisha. Jayanta Kumar Mishra, Head of the Training Division at NIC Odisha, conducted the proceedings, while Surendra Nath Behera delivered the vote of thanks.
