
Bhubaneswar: A comprehensive three-day training program on disaster management, jointly organized by the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department, successfully concluded today. The event, held from January 4th to 6th, 2024, aimed to enhance the skills of City Mission Managers and Community Organizers in effectively handling pandemic situations.
Forty participants, including City Mission Managers and Community Organizers from various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), actively engaged in the training program hosted in Bhubaneswar. The primary objective was to create a cadre of Master Trainers for Urban Odisha, equipping them with strategies to manage key issues during disasters.
The training sessions featured distinguished speakers, including Sangramjit Nayak (Director, Municipal Administration), Sarada Prasad Panda (Joint Secretary & Director, SUDA), Susanta Mishra (Director Town Planning from H&UD Deptt.), Susmita Behera (Executive Director, OSDMA), Lipika Dash (Joint Relief Commissioner, SRC), Prasanta Das (Director, OFDRA & Chief Fire Officer), Subrat Mishra (Deputy Director, SIRD), and other officials and resource persons from OSDMA, UNICEF, and other agencies.
Future plans include organizing periodic training sessions to build a robust and well-equipped disaster management team for Urban Odisha.
