The Queen of Melody cremated with full state honour at Shivaji Park

The voice which gave solace to every Indian soul for decades was given a tearful farewell today. The legendary singer and Bharat Ratna recipient Lata Mangeshkar was cremated with full state honour at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Sunday evening.

Thousands of mourning fans throunged to the Shivaji Park to pay their last respect to the melodious singer who ruled the hearts of the listeners for eight decades.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, state ministers, Bollywood artistes, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar among others attended her funeral.

Two day national mourning has also been declared in her honour, national flag will fly at half mast across the country

In her singing career of over 8 decades, she has recorded more than 30000 songs in over thirty-six Indian languages and few foreign languages. With her demise, an era has ended.
