Ten Ravenshaw Students Penalized for Ragging Freshers in Hostel

Cuttack: A group of senior students at Ravenshaw University has been penalized after being found guilty of ragging first-year students in the East Hostel. The incident occurred on Saturday night, raising serious concerns about student safety on campus.

According to university officials, ten third-year undergraduate students were involved in the incident, during which they allegedly verbally harassed and intimidated newly admitted juniors. The situation came to light after hostel residents alerted authorities about the late-night misconduct.

Responding promptly, the university’s Chief Warden, hostel wardens, faculty, and senior administrative officials rushed to the hostel and brought the situation under control after rounds of dialogue with the students involved.

Following an internal probe, the university identified the accused and directed them to vacate the hostel by Sunday evening. They were temporarily housed in the university guest house for one night as part of the transition.

Parents of the accused students have been formally informed of the disciplinary action taken. The university administration has reiterated its firm stance against ragging, stating that such behaviour will not be tolerated and will attract immediate and strict action.

Ravenshaw University emphasized its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students.
