Subroto Bagchi Appointed Chairman of Karnataka’s Skill Development Vision Group

Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman and Mindtree co-founder Subroto Bagchi has been appointed Chairman of Karnataka’s newly constituted Vision Group for Skill Development.

The high-level advisory body has been formed to provide strategic direction to Karnataka’s skilling ecosystem and support the implementation of the Karnataka State Skill Policy 2025-32, aimed at creating a future-ready and industry-aligned workforce.

The Vision Group comprises leaders from industry, academia, civil society and government. It will identify gaps in the skilling ecosystem, recommend strategic interventions and advise the government on implementing the state’s skill development policy.

Bagchi said the changing nature of work presents an opportunity for Karnataka to prepare its youth for the future. In a post on X, he said he was “honoured and delighted” to head the group and expressed confidence that the state’s youth would shape a new chapter in skill development.

Bagchi co-founded Mindtree in 1999 and later served as its Chairman. In 2016, he was appointed Chairman of the Odisha Skill Development Authority with Cabinet Minister rank and status.

He and his wife, Susmita Bagchi, are also known for their philanthropic contributions to healthcare and education, including major support for cancer care and public health initiatives in Bhubaneswar and Bengaluru.
