Subhadra Yojana Crosses ₹5,032 Crore Mark, Empowering Over 1.64 Crore Women in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s Subhadra Yojana, a flagship initiative aimed at women’s financial empowerment, has achieved a major milestone, benefiting over 1.64 crore women across the state. With the latest fifth-phase disbursement of the first installment, the total financial aid provided under the scheme has exceeded ₹5,032 crore, reinforcing the government’s commitment to uplifting women and enhancing their economic stability.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, leading the virtual disbursement event from the Women and Child Development Department conference hall, transferred ₹5,000 each to over 2.34 lakh beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). This installment alone amounted to ₹1,170 crore in aid. Addressing women across the state via YouTube Live, Parida called on Subhadra beneficiaries to light lamps at their homes on March 7, 2025, as a symbolic celebration of their empowerment and the scheme’s success.

Expanding Reach Across Odisha

Since its launch by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhubaneswar, Subhadra Yojana has progressively expanded its reach in multiple phases:

• Phase 1: 25.29 lakh women benefited in Bhubaneswar.
• Phase 2: 35 lakh women received financial assistance in Baripada, Mayurbhanj.
• Phase 3: 20 lakh women benefitted in Sundargarh.
• Phase 4: Over 18 lakh women received support.
• Phase 5: 2.34 lakh women received ₹5,000 each, marking the latest step in the initiative.

With this latest installment, Subhadra Yojana has successfully reached 1.64 crore women, offering direct financial support to enhance their livelihoods, economic independence, and overall well-being.

Incentives for Anganwadi Workers

Recognizing the role of Anganwadi workers and helpers in implementing the scheme, Deputy CM Parida announced special cash rewards:

• ₹1,500 for each Anganwadi worker
• ₹500 for each Anganwadi helper

The state government has earmarked over ₹14 crore for these incentives, acknowledging the contributions of frontline workers in ensuring the scheme’s effective rollout and accessibility.

Strengthening Women’s Empowerment

During the event, Deputy CM Parida interacted virtually with Collectors, social workers, and beneficiaries from different districts, reaffirming the government’s dedication to strengthening Subhadra Yojana by incorporating skill development programs for women.

The event was attended by Principal Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department, Shubha Sharma, Director Monisha Banerjee, and senior officials, all instrumental in implementing the scheme.
