South African Govt Considers Allowing Women To Have Multiple Husbands

In South Africa, Polyandry could become a reality. The South African government has made a proposal allowing women to have multiple husbands. The suggestion has led to uproar among conservative sections.

While Polygamy is allowed in the South Africa where a man can have multiple wives. Even marriage of minors is legal. The Polyandry, allowing women to have multiple husbands has been criticised and receiving strong opposition.

The green paper containing the proposal has been prepared by the country’s home affairs department and published on the official website. The proposal focuses on a wide range of changes in South Africa’s marriage laws.

The government has invited comments and suggestions from people on the green paper till June 30.
