
Bhubaneswar: A new Skill Lab focusing on Agriculture and Automotive trades was inaugurated at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Kirmira, in Jharsuguda district by Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram. The initiative aims to equip tribal students with hands-on learning opportunities that complement their academic education and prepare them for future employment.
The event coincided with the nationwide launch of 200 EMRS Skill Labs by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a virtual conference, marking a milestone in the Government’s efforts to integrate vocational training into school education for tribal youth.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Kumud Khuswa, Deputy Commissioner, NESTS (National Education Society for Tribal Students); T.V.S. Prakash Rao, Consultant, NESTS; and Kunal Motiram Chhavan, District Collector, Jharsuguda, along with other dignitaries and local representatives.
Addressing the gathering, Jual Oram highlighted the importance of skill-based education in fostering self-reliance and confidence among tribal students. He commended the Government’s initiative to integrate vocational learning through EMRS Skill Labs, which will help students gain industry-relevant skills and open new avenues for their career growth.
The Minister also praised the achievements of EMRS students in academics, sports, and cultural fields, encouraging them to “dream big and aim high” while contributing to the development of their communities. Following the inauguration, Shri Oram interacted with students and parents, hearing their experiences and aspirations firsthand.
