SJTA Files Complaint Against Illegal Encroachment of Lord Jagannath’s Land in Puri

Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has filed a formal complaint at Baselisahi Police Station against the illegal encroachment and attempted transfer of land belonging to Lord Jagannath in Matitota Mauza, Puri.

The SJTA reported that 109 plots under Khata No-38 in Matitota Mauza have been targeted for encroachment. In response, the administration has urged the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to take swift and decisive action to address the issue.

Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee emphasized the administration’s commitment to safeguarding Lord Jagannath’s properties. “We are committed to protecting the property of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath. No fraud or illegal activity will be tolerated,” he stated. Dr. Padhee also warned that any unauthorized transfer of Lord Jagannath’s land is illegal and punishable under the law.

To enhance transparency and efficiency in land management, Dr. Padhee announced ongoing efforts to digitize all land lease records under the temple’s jurisdiction. “The process of computerizing all land leases of Shri Jagannath Mahaprabhu, C/O Temple Management Committee, is underway. Our goal is to ensure that all transactions, whether sales or leases, are fully transparent,” he posted on his X handle.

The SJTA has cautioned individuals and organizations against participating in illegal land transfers and assured the public that strict legal measures will be taken against violators.
