Sivakarthikeyan Charms Audiences at IFFI Goa, Reflects on His Inspiring Journey

Goa: The auditorium at Kala Academy reverberated with applause and cheers as Tamil cinema superstar Sivakarthikeyan took the stage at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). From humble beginnings to superstardom, the actor’s journey has been a story of grit, passion, and resilience, captivating millions both on and off the screen.

In an engaging conversation with actor and politician Khushbu Sundar, Sivakarthikeyan shared insights into his life, career, and inspirations. Reflecting on his roots, he said, “Cinema has always been my passion. I started with television anchoring, which opened doors to the entertainment industry. I pursued it with utmost dedication.”

Sivakarthikeyan began his career as a mimicry artist, often imitating his professors during his engineering days. “When I later apologized to them, they encouraged me, saying this talent needed the right platform,” he recalled.

The actor also spoke about the profound impact of his father’s untimely demise. “After losing my father, I almost fell into depression. But work pulled me out, and the love and applause from my audience became my therapy,” he said, crediting his fans for their unwavering support.

Khushbu Sundar lauded his honesty and determination, calling them his “anchors.” Sivakarthikeyan agreed, adding, “Life is full of hurdles, but following one’s passion helps overcome them. There was a time I wanted to give up, but the love of my audience kept me going.”

Reflecting on his career trajectory, he said, “Early on, I accepted every project. But now, the stories are choosing me.”

He cited Doctor, Don, and the recent Amaran, where he portrayed real-life war hero Mukund Varadarajan, as examples of meaningful roles that resonate with his audience.

Sivakarthikeyan also touched on the role of humor in his career. “Transitioning from television to cinema was tough. Humor became my armor, a way to connect with audiences on both the small and big screens,” he said.

Addressing young dreamers, he shared, “Fly like a free bird, but always return to your nest. For me, my family is my nest, and staying rooted is essential. Our parents want only the best for us.”
