The remaining matches of the 2021 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played in the UAE from today onwards. Five-times champion Mumbai Indians (MI) are facing three-times winner Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first match of the much awaited restarting of this high-profile league.
IPL-2021 that was held in India earlier this year, was cancelled mid-way in May as the second wave of Covid-19 wreaked havoc in the country. The holding of the tournament amidst deaths of lakhs of Indians across the country was criticized by many. However, after several players found positive for the virus despite having strict bio-bubble arrangements, BCCI had to cancel the event indefinitely.
The second leg of the tournament will continue till October 15, when Dubai will host the finals of the richest cricket league. All the matches of the league will be played at different stadiums in the UAE.
