Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty Clinch Runners-up Spot in India Open 2024 Men’s Doubles Final

New Delhi: Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showcased an extraordinary performance but narrowly missed the top spot as they emerged as runners-up in the men’s doubles final of the India Open 2024. Engaging in a thrilling match against South Korean opponents Seo Seung-jae and Kang Min-hyuk, the Indian pair displayed sheer brilliance, keeping fans on the edge of their seats throughout the intense contest.

The final, held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, witnessed a gripping battle that lasted for 65 minutes. Satwik and Chirag fought valiantly but ultimately conceded to the world champions Kang and Seo with a scoreline of 21-15, 11-21, 18-21.

This marked the second consecutive runners-up finish for the Indian duo, who had secured the top position in the 2022 edition of the tournament. In the previous week, they had also finished as runners-up in the Malaysia Super 1000.

The Indian pair, known for their remarkable performances, faced tough competition from their Korean rivals, maintaining a 4-1 head-to-head record in five meetings, including the recent encounter at the Malaysia Open. The duo displayed incredible reflexes and relentless hitting in the opening game, keeping the Korean pair under pressure.

Despite the final outcome, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty continue to be a formidable force in international badminton, and their remarkable journey is lauded by fans and enthusiasts alike.
