Royal Global School Unveils ‘Iris’, Northeast’s First AI Teacher

Guwahati: In a pioneering move for education in Northeast India, Royal Global School in Guwahati has introduced ‘Iris’, the region’s first AI-powered teacher. Clad in the traditional Mekhela-Chador, Iris made a memorable debut, captivating students and educators alike during her inaugural session.

Iris’s introduction marks a significant leap in the integration of artificial intelligence within educational settings. The unveiling was met with enthusiasm and curiosity from students, who quickly engaged with the AI teacher, eager to explore her capabilities.

During the session, a student’s question about haemoglobin showcased Iris’s impressive capabilities. She not only provided a detailed explanation but also incorporated examples and references, demonstrating her vast knowledge base and interactive prowess. Iris’s ability to perform gestures, such as handshakes, added a human touch to the learning experience, fostering engagement in the classroom.

Equipped with a voice-controlled assistant, Iris tailors her responses to meet individual learning needs, making her a versatile and accessible educational tool. Teachers at Royal Global School observed a noticeable increase in student excitement and participation, attributing this to Iris’s engaging and informative teaching style.

Developed in collaboration with Makerlabs Edu-tech under the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) initiative by NITI Aayog, Iris represents a significant advancement in AI-driven education. This initiative reflects Royal Global School’s commitment to incorporating cutting-edge technology to enhance learning outcomes.

This innovative approach is set to transform traditional teaching methods and equip students with the skills needed for the digital age. Iris’s introduction not only enhances the educational experience but also prepares students for a future where digital literacy and technological proficiency are paramount.

Looking ahead, Royal Global School plans to explore further educational innovations with Iris as a central figure in their classrooms. The school aims to continually integrate advanced technologies to provide a dynamic and future-ready education for its students.
