Rourkela Smart City Board Reviews Key Projects, Calls for Faster ICCC Execution

Bhubaneswar: The 31st Board meeting of Rourkela Smart City Ltd. was held on Friday, chaired by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg. The meeting brought together senior officials including Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department; Sundargarh Collector Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra; and Rourkela Smart City CEO Dheenah Dastageer.

The Board reviewed the overall progress of major ongoing projects, examined operational challenges, and discussed strategies for sustainable maintenance and revenue generation as part of the city’s long-term urban transformation goals.

A major focus of the meeting was the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC). The Board directed Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to expedite implementation to ensure the project stays on schedule.

In the review of the ‘rOURkela One’ initiative, officials expressed satisfaction over the progress made by Rourkela Smart City Ltd., particularly noting steady advancement in the construction of the City Command Centre (CCC) building and the Tribal Museum building.

The Board also held detailed discussions on the Tribal Museum’s soft components, including content development, tribal hut replicas, artifact curation and shrine craft installations, which will showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Progress reports were also shared on other major projects such as the Big Recreation Park and the Vedvyas Heritage Development, both key elements of Rourkela’s urban revitalisation plans.
